Etsy Tariff Calculator

See what an Etsy sale really pays you after every 2026 fee. Set the price, the tariff rate and your costs: the breakdown updates as you type, with the DDP tariff charge and the Etsy fee on it as their own lines.

All math runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

The formula, line by line

Since 9 July 2026, Etsy asks sellers outside the US to ship American orders with duties prepaid (DDP) and to bake the tariff into the item price. Etsy fees apply to that price, so on tariff money you collect only to hand over, you also pay Etsy fees.

The engine reverse-computes the tariff inside the price: under DDP you set your US price as the base times (1 plus the rate), so the tariff share of the displayed price is the rate divided by (1 plus the rate). The fee base for the transaction and processing fees is the tariff-free price plus the shipping you charge; the tariff portion carries the seller-reported 15% as its own line, so no dollar is counted twice.

Worked example: the numbers the calculator opens with

A $130.00 print set shipped to a US buyer at a 30% tariff rate, $8.00 shipping charged, $40.00 of materials, $6.00 of real shipping cost, sold through Offsite Ads:

  1. Tariff inside the price130 × 0.3/1.3 gives $30.00
  2. Fee base (tariff-free price plus shipping)130-30+8 gives $108.00
  3. Listing fee$0.20
  4. Transaction fee, 6.5%6.5% of $108.00 gives $7.02
  5. Payment processing, 3% plus $0.253% of $108.00 plus $0.25 gives $3.49
  6. Offsite Ads, 15% of the order15% of $138.00 gives $20.70
  7. Etsy fee on the tariff charge, 15%15% of $30.00 gives $4.50
  8. All Etsy fees$35.91, which is 26% of the $138.00 the buyer pays
  9. Costs (materials, shipping, tariff remitted)40+6+30 gives $76.00
  10. Profit$138.00-$35.91-$76.00 leaves $26.09, an 18.9% margin

Rates come from Etsy's published fee policy and help pages, checked 29 August 2026. The 15% fee on the tariff charge is the rate sellers report in the community; Etsy documents that fees apply to the tariff-inclusive price, and the exact composition of that 15% is tracked as an open question in the engine's fee notes. This page runs the same engine as the Etsy Fee and Tariff Calculator Chrome extension; the formula is maintained by Vladislav Kovnerov. Sanity-check the result against your own Etsy statement once.

FAQ

›What is the Etsy tariff fee?

Since 9 July 2026, Etsy requires sellers outside the US to ship American orders with duties prepaid (DDP) and to bake the tariff into the item price. Etsy fees apply to that price, and sellers report the combined take on the tariff money as a flat 15%: money you collect only to pass to customs, minus Etsy cut of it. This calculator shows that fee as its own line.

›How do I calculate the tariff on my Etsy order?

Take the tariff rate of the buyer country and remember the tariff is baked into a DDP price. If you multiplied your base price by (1 plus the rate), then the tariff inside the displayed price is the price times the rate divided by (1 plus the rate): a $130 price at a 30% rate carries 130 × 0.3/1.3, so $30.00 of tariff. The calculator does this computation for you.

›Does the Etsy transaction fee apply to the tariff?

Etsy published policy applies the 6.5% transaction fee and payment processing to the tariff-inclusive price, and sellers report the combined take on the tariff money as 15%. This calculator charges the 6.5% and the processing fee on the tariff-free base and adds the reported 15% on the tariff portion as a separate line: the total matches what sellers see on their statements and nothing is double-counted.

›What tariff rate should I enter?

The rate of the buyer country. For US orders that is the HTS duty rate for your product category, which varies by goods type and origin. Any percentage is accepted, including 0: set the rate to 0 once and the gap you see is the full cost of DDP in fees alone.

›Is this the same calculator as the Chrome extension?

Yes. This page and the Etsy Fee and Tariff Calculator extension run the same fee engine. The extension adds a popover under the price of any Etsy listing you open; this page is the no-install version with the full formula written out.

›Where do the numbers go?

Nowhere. The page is static HTML and JavaScript: every computation happens in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to a server. There is no account and no analytics on the inputs.

The same engine lives in a Chrome extension: it puts the full fee breakdown under the price of any Etsy listing, yours or a competitor.
