DDP Calculator for Etsy Orders

Work out a delivered duty paid order end to end: the duty baked into your Etsy price, every Etsy fee charged on top of it, the landed cost of one order, and which party hands over which dollar.

All math runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Fee rates checked: 29 August 2026

Formula maintained by Vladislav Kovnerov, kovnerov.com

The same engine lives in a Chrome extension: the full fee breakdown under the price of any Etsy listing, yours or a competitor's.

The DDP math, line by line

Since 9 July 2026, Etsy asks sellers outside the US to ship American orders with duties prepaid (DDP) and to bake the tariff into the item price. You set the US price as the tariff-free base times (1 plus the rate); the buyer pays nothing at the border, and you send the duty to customs before the parcel moves.

The engine reverse-computes the duty inside the price: under DDP the tariff share of the displayed price is the rate divided by (1 plus the rate). The fee base for the transaction and processing fees is the tariff-free price plus the shipping you charge; the tariff portion carries the seller-reported 15% as its own line, so no dollar is counted twice.

The landed cost of the order is everything you spend to land one unit: materials, the carrier, the duty you remit, and the Etsy fees. The buyer total minus that landed cost is your profit.

Worked example: the numbers the calculator opens with

A $130.00 print set shipped to a US buyer at a 30% tariff rate, $8.00 shipping charged, $40.00 of materials, $6.00 of real shipping cost, sold through Offsite Ads:

  1. Duty inside the price130 × 0.3/1.3 gives $30.00
  2. Fee base (tariff-free price plus shipping)130-30+8 gives $108.00
  3. Listing fee$0.20
  4. Transaction fee, 6.5%6.5% of $108.00 gives $7.02
  5. Payment processing, 3% plus $0.253% of $108.00 plus $0.25 gives $3.49
  6. Offsite Ads, 15% of the order15% of $138.00 gives $20.70
  7. Etsy fee on the tariff charge, 15%15% of $30.00 gives $4.50
  8. All Etsy fees$35.91, which is 26% of the $138.00 the buyer pays
  9. Landed cost (materials, carrier, duty, fees)40+6+30+35.91 gives $111.91
  10. Profit$138.00-$111.91 leaves $26.09, an 18.9% margin

Rates come from Etsy's published fee policy and help pages, checked 29 August 2026. The 15% fee on the tariff charge is the rate sellers report in the community; Etsy documents that fees apply to the tariff-inclusive price, and the exact composition of that 15% is tracked as an open question in the engine's fee notes. This page runs the same engine as the Etsy Tariff Calculator and its Chrome extension; the formula is maintained by Vladislav Kovnerov. Sanity-check the result against your own Etsy statement once.

FAQ

›What is a DDP calculator?

A tool that works out the full cost of a delivered duty paid order. It reverse-computes the customs duty baked into your price, adds every Etsy fee charged on the order including the 15% sellers report on the tariff money, and shows the landed cost per order and who pays which part: buyer, you, customs and Etsy.

›How do I calculate DDP cost?

Two parts. The duty inside a DDP price is the price times the rate divided by (1 plus the rate), because you set the price as the base times (1 plus the rate). On top comes the Etsy take on that duty, which sellers report as a flat 15%. A $130 price at a 30% rate carries $30.00 of duty plus $4.50 in Etsy fees on it. The calculator above does both lines as you type.

›Who pays the customs duty under DDP?

The seller pays customs, before the parcel moves. The buyer still carries the cost inside the price, because Etsy's guidance since 9 July 2026 is to set the US price as the tariff-free base times (1 plus the rate). Under DAP or DDU the buyer instead gets a bill from the courier on delivery, which is what DDP exists to avoid.

›Does the buyer pay anything at the door with DDP?

No. The checkout total, item price plus shipping, is the buyer's full landed cost: duties are already inside it and the courier collects nothing on delivery. That is the difference between DDP and DAP, where the courier stops at the door and asks the buyer to pay duty plus a handling fee.

›What is the landed cost of my Etsy order?

Everything you spend to land one unit: materials, your carrier cost, the duty you remit to customs, and the Etsy fees on the order. The buyer total minus that landed cost is your profit. On a $130 price at a 30% rate the duty alone is $30.00 plus $4.50 of Etsy fees on it, before materials, carrier and the other fees are counted. The calculator above adds every line as you type.

›Is this DDP calculator free, and where do my numbers go?

Free, and nowhere. The page is static HTML and JavaScript: every computation happens in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to a server. There is no account and no analytics on the inputs. It runs the same fee engine as the Etsy Tariff Calculator and its Chrome extension.

The same engine lives in a Chrome extension: it puts the full fee breakdown under the price of any Etsy listing, yours or a competitor's.
